What is "Route 66 Recharged"?
Route 66 Recharged is an expedition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the "Mother Road" by driving its entire length in an electric vehicle. Our goal is to connect the history of America’s most iconic road to the future filled with electric vehicles.
Why is 2026 so important?
1926 was the year Route 66 was officially established. 2026 marks its Centennial and communities along the route are planning massive festivals, neon restorations, and special events to celebrate this milestone.
Why are you doing the trip in a week?
Most people (including us) can’t take a month off for a road trip. We want to show that a cross-country EV adventure is "Working Class Friendly." By doing it in a week, we show that you can see the best of the Mother Road using just 5 days of vacation time.
Why did you choose April for the trip?
April is the "Goldilocks" month for Route 66. It’s early enough to avoid the scorching 100°F+ heat of the Mojave Desert and the Texas panhandle, but late enough to avoid the heavy snows of the Illinois and Missouri winters.
Are you driving on the original Route 66 the whole time?
Route 66 was decommissioned decades ago, and much of it was replaced by Interstates (I-55, I-44, I-40). To keep our 7-day schedule, we use a "Hybrid Route": we use the Interstates for efficiency between major points, but take frequent "excursions" onto the historic "Old 66" segments for sightseeing and supporting local businesses.

Where can I watch the videos?
The full multi-part documentary series will be released on our YouTube channel shortly after the trip concludes. We’ll be filming everything from charging logistics to interviews with the locals who keep the road alive.
