We Found the Real Birthplace of Taco Bell! Route 66 EV Road Trip (Route 66 Recharged Ep. 7)

We have reached the home stretch of our Route 66 Recharged journey! In this episode, we crossed into our home state of California and explored some of the most iconic (and slightly hidden) gems along the Mother Road.

We kicked things off in Kingman, Arizona, before heading to Cool Springs Station and meeting a very friendly cat. Then, it was time to tackle the Sidewinder—the curviest, most narrow stretch of the Route 66—on our way to find the famous wild burros of Oatman.

Once we crossed the Colorado River into California, we dove into the history of Harvey Houses, checked out Snoopy’s brother Spike in Needles, and showed the surreal Bottle Tree Ranch. We also shared our experience with EV efficiency, debunking some common charging myths and demoed the Electrify America app.

To wrap up our last night on the road, we checked into the legendary Wigwam Motel and grabbed a bite at Mitla Cafe—the original inspiration for the Taco Bell crunchy taco! It has been an incredible 2,000+ mile journey so far, and we can't wait to share the final celebration with you in the next episode.
